Bathroom Vanities
Bathroom Cabinets,
Bathroom Vanities, and Other Custom Bathroom Furniture

There was a time
when a bathroom vanity was there merely to cover up pipe work and
hide the toilet paper. Nowadays they have become another statement
of intent for people who love their homes. Real estate agents tell
us all the time that two main rooms sell a house, the kitchen and
the bathroom. The bathroom is usually the first place a person goes
when they wake up in the morning and the last before they go to bed.
Therefore to get the best start to the day and a pleasant end to it,
you should make your bathroom a nice place to be.
Wood is a marvelous material to work with. Not only is it pliable
and malleable in the right hands, it is also strong and
hard-wearing. It is one of the most versatile and popular building
materials in the world. It is pleasing to the eye and to the touch,
pretty much a treat for all the senses. No other material looks and
feels as good to work with or to look at.
No matter what you are looking for in a bathroom, you can certainly
set the scene with great bathroom vanities. They give your bathroom
a definite identity and will help you feel more comfortable and
relaxed while you are there. Bathroom vanities usually consist of
most of your bathroom furniture such as basins, sink cabinets and
storage. There are many styles you can choose from including popular
ones such as French Provincial and Country all the way to modern
minimalist designs.
When sealed properly wood can cope well with damp conditions
prevalent in most bathrooms. The styles and the colors of the
finishes will make the vanity stand out or not as the case may be.
The design choices for bathroom vanities are extensive, but there
are some basic styles that most designs conform to. They include:
French Provincial. This classic look is a cross between between
feminine elegance and overall luxuriousness. With its standard white
design and gold gilt detailing, this style can make a significant
statement in any bathroom.
Country. This style is an extremely popular choice. This design
style includes light oak, white and some colored and "distressed"
looks. When the right accessories are added, this look can be
outstanding in large and even smaller bathrooms.
Antique. There are some great reproductions and original designs
that are freestanding cabinets with proper insets for a sink, sinks
or plumbing.
Classic European. This style of vanity includes darker wood, such as
mahogany, cherry and hickory. The designs should give a bathroom the
look and feel of old world charm. When antique, or antique style,
accessories and the right counters are used the overall look can be
quite authentic.
Modern. Bathroom vanities don't have to look like wood to be a good
design. Modern cabinets can come in a variety of styles. Metallic
looking or plastic appearance vanities with glass or glass-like
doors can give a bathroom a sleek, modern feel. Complement with some
bright colors, and the look will be suitably modern.
Minimalist. Some people prefer to keep it down to just the basics. A
clean look works well for them. A simple vanity with basic counters
that serve the purpose and do it well works perfectly for this look.
