Pine Wall Unit

This custom wall unit was made for the Mathews Family of Bonita Springs. The wood is very obviusly pine with a light brown stain that really brings the contrast of the dark knots out against the much lighter background. The finish was a lacquer of dull satin finish.

Another outdoors cabinet job

This latest job was very similar to the job we did last week for the Portner Home. The only real difference in the jobs was this one had a slight design adjustment and the stain was changed to a brown walnut tone. The wood used was maple. Like the last job, these cabinets were for the pool outside so we finished them with a coat of varnish.

Outdoor Pine Cabinets

Just finished up a small project for the Portner Residence. They needed a small set of outdoor cabinets to go along with the new grill they bought. These cabinets were custom made, obviously from pine, with medium brown walnut stain and because they are outside, we put a varnish finish on them which will be better able to stand up to the harsh Florida weather.

Oh my, what a huge problem

So I was doing routine maintenance and realized that our contact page had the wrong email address listed! The email form still sent to the correct address, but the email link that lets people manually send mail was totally wrong, and it was wrong for a very long time. I went ahead and fixed it, it goes straight to Joe’s personal email now. But as I sit here I wonder how many lost emails went to that comcast.net email?

This is a good lesson for everyone, I try and explain to people that using comcast email or other ISP email services is not a good idea. The reason it’s not a good idea is because when you leave your ISP, you lose your email. You may think well I’ll never leave me ISP, but don’t be too sure. Even if you move to a different city and keep your current ISP, you will still have to change email addresses.

I would highly recommend signing up for Gmail or Yahoo so you avoid this ever happening to you. It took a while but I did get Joe off comcast.net email and on to Gmail by Google.

See our pictures of painted cabinets

So part of the reason for this new blog is to get better exposure to the different areas of our site. So every day, or maybe a few times per week, I will blog about a certain aspect of the JWP services. To start off with I’m going to blog a bit about our painted cabinets page.

As you can see on the page it’s full of all sorts of different styles of cabinets. From simple boxes to elaborate cabinets with all sorts of fancy trim and gold leafing. Most of our cabinets are painted with lacquer. Some of the kitchen cabinets get a conversion varnish finish if they will be undergoing lots of wear and tear. Conversion varnish or “CV” is especially good to use if you have a painted counter top. Many of our clients end up going with granite tops for their cabinets, but the ones who choose a painted surface definitely get CV for that.

That’s pretty much it for this post, click on the link above to check the page out. I’d say we have 30 or so pictures up there for you to see, click on the thumnails to make that image larger.

Hello everyone

This is the first post on the new blog. The other blog got kind of dead and in need of some updates. So this will be our new home. On this page we will keep everyone up to date on all the news going on with not only JWP but in the world of cabinets as well. Right now we are working on a little TV show that will focus on being green. Basically we will be remodeling a home using only “green” materials and supplies. I’ll post more about that soon, I need to get a new design on this blog ASAP.

Check back soon!
